Developed in alignment with current education research, the Engineer Your World professional development program begins with a two-week summer professional development institute (PDI) at The University of Texas at Austin. Delivered by a team of engineers and instructional support specialists, this PDI engages teams of teachers in authentic engineering practices, enables teachers to experience the curriculum that they will teach, enhances engineering pedagogical content knowledge, models effective practices for project-based instruction, and facilitates collaborative strategic planning and reflection on classroom practice. For more information, download a description of the teacher support program.
Schools that join the Engineer Your World network in 2017-18 pay a PDI registration fee of $2000 to cover costs of facilities, materials and trainers.* Additionally, the Engineer Your World program will establish a discounted room rate at a nearby hotel for out-of-town participants.
